Hi all,
Our company is considering converting all our reports from Crystal to SSRS.
We have done a fair bit of research. I have a number of questions that I
can't find answers to. If anyone with experience using the software could
help me out with some answers, I'd be most grateful.
1. Can you save data with a report? or do you have to connect to data every
time you run a report?
2. I've heard when scrolling a matrix report that the row heading overlaps
values when scrolling and looks very messy. Is this true and is there a way
to stop it happening as a lot of our reports are Matrix based?
3. Is there an equivalent to Crystal's Group Explorer, for just viewing a
certain group?
4. With regards date formatting we have heard it defaults to US date. Is it
possible to permanently overide this or do you have to do it manually for
each report?
Many thanks
JHJH,
I'm having some difficulty getting this feature to work accross the
entire row header. But, what I've found out so far is RS2005 does
offer the feature, but it's not very intuitive to use. The only way
I've found it to work (somewhat) is
1. Add a group to your Matrix/Table.
2. Edit the group by right-clicking the group text-box.
3. Check the box at the bottom of the General tab for "Group header
should remain visible while scrolling".
I haven't figured out yet how to select the entire row (which in my
case contains about 15 measures) and set the row to freeze like in
excel. I even tried to add subsequent groups as separate
measures...can't figure that one out either.

Migrating form Oracle 8 to SQL2000
Has there anyone heard these two 3rd-party tool "SwisSQL" and "DbBest",
which say can full converting Oracle to SQL Server, includes Triggers and
Views?
I got this on KB already
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...r />
0761.mspx
but I still hope if there're some other choice and much more convenient...I heard of both the products, but I have seen DBBest in action at PASS 2003,
in Seattle, WA. Though I haven't tried it myself, it seems like a very good
product.
This might help:

Migrating cubes from SQL Server Analysis Services 2000 to MS SSAS 2005
Hello
I am fairly new to SQL Server and wanted to know the best way of converting a .CAB cube created in SSAS 2000 to SSAS 2005 and then associate it with a database.
Rgds
Ankur
Backups done in AS2000 cannot be restored in AS2005. Your best course of actions is to restore the .cab backup on AS2000 system, and then migrate it to AS2005 system.Wednesday, March 21, 2012
migrate msjet to mssql server
hi, i already have a project in vb6 / msjet 3.5 using dao methods .index .seek , ... I want to convert it to sql , is there a fast way (! converting .index .seek to select...where clauses is time consumming issue) plse reply since the package is already running and i am really desperate to the conversion.
many thanks and appreciation
amatouriI'm afraid you'll have to go through the pain of taking all this DAO s$%t out. And while you're at it, do yourself and those who'll come later a favor, - take out .Add/.Edit/.Update as well, - very nasty stuff, and while being a very lazy way to code, yields a very paiful and weekendless life for your DBA...
