Migrate / Read Access data file(s) in SQL Server

Dear Experts,
I have some Access .mde files from a custom application.
The runtime version of Access is 2002. I don't have
a developer's version of Access. I also don't have the
schema design of the app.
I'd like to import or migrate the data file into SQL Server
schemas (databases) somehow. Or, another database
like Oracle.
Is it possible to do this from SQL Server?
What is the buzzword that I can search on?
Is there a link you can forward?
Thanks a lot!
Migrating Access databases to SQL Server can be done different ways from
both sides. Also, depending on the version of SQL Server that you target you
can use different tools too.
Here are a few links that will give you a good start:

Microsoft Access versions 97 through 2003 to Microsoft SQL Server 2005):

In the past I have used many times the Data Transformation Services in SQL
Server 2000 to import data from Access databases and it has been working
very well. Recently I used the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard in SQL
Server 2005 to import a few tables from .mde files and no problems there
too.

|||I tried the simplest method I could. In SQL 2000, using enterprise manager,
I imported the mde. In source, I chose the Access type. I then chose the
file (after changing the file filter from *.mdb to all files). After
accepting the SQL Server data source, I checked all of the tables in the mde.
The import wizard created my tables and imported the data.

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException HResult -2146233088

i get the following exception HResult -2146233088

[Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException] {"No description found"} Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException

when i try to use this following code snippet

try

{

ConnectionManager objOLEDBConnection;

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package objPackage = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package();

objOLEDBConnection = objPackage.Connections.Add("OLEDB");

}

catch(Exception ex)

{

ex.Message ;

}

could you please help me out with this ?

Moving to the SSIS forum.|||

Have you seen this help article that shows adding an OLE-DB connection to a package - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d90716d1-4c65-466c-b82c-4aabbee1e3e5(SQL.90).aspx

What is the actual line that throws the exception?

The code looks OK, but knowing where the exception is raised may help.

Is SSIS correctly installed on your PC?

Is the OLE-DB connection available if you use the designer?

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime ASP.NET Security Issue

I am struggling in calling an SSIS package programatically using the Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime namespace.

I am succesfuly connecting to the package insofar as I am able to retrieve the package ID (GUID), but when I call package.Execute I get a 'login failed for user' error, which indicates a security problem.

My ASP.NET app is running as a domain user which has temporary 'SA' rights on the server where the package is hosted. In addition, I have set the protection level on the package to 'DontSaveSensitive'.

What am I missing to be able to execute the package remotely?

TIA,

Rick

This depends on how you deployed your packages -- I've encountere this problem a few times myself.

If you've deployed your package on the server, one of the things that you may want to check are the SQL security settings e.g., Windows authentication will go kaput if you have a firewall between your web and db servers, etc.

If you deployed it through file system you might want to check your package's ProtectionLevel property. The default EncriptSensitiveWithUserKey is the way to go (at least in my case) for this.

Microsoft VBScript Runtime error 800a001c

I was editing my website and added a feature in error. I tried deleting it
all to no avail. Then I began getting the following error message:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a001c'
Out of stack space: 'Val'
/admin/content/pages.asp, line 7
The part in /admin/content/pages.asp, line 7 reads:
For I = 0 To UBound(arrArray)
If Val(arrArray(I)) = Val(varValue) Then
Array_Exists = True
Exit Function
End If
Next
Array_Exists = False
End Function
I have no idea what to do about it. Any hint or link to the right direction
will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error

Hello,

I am currently getting the following error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'QueryString'

/admin/equipment/addequipment.asp, line 128

This is when i try to submit a new database item in Dreamweaver. The DB I am using is SQL Server 2005.

My code is as follows:

Dim equipspec__urlid
equipspec__urlid = "1"
If (QueryString("ID") <> "") Then
equipspec__urlid = QueryString("ID")
End If
%>
<%
Dim equipspec
Dim equipspec_numRows

Set equipspec = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
equipspec.ActiveConnection = MM_intranet_STRING
equipspec.Source = "SELECT * FROM EquipSpec WHERE " + Replace(equipspec__urlid, "'", "''") + " = EquipSpec.ID"
equipspec.CursorType = 0
equipspec.CursorLocation = 2
equipspec.LockType = 1
equipspec.Open()

Would be greatful if anybody could help, let me know if you need more info.

Many thanks.This is not a TSQL issue. You have a type mismatch in your VB code. The error message contains the line in your source code so check that to see the problem.
