Migrating form Oracle 8 to SQL2000

Has there anyone heard these two 3rd-party tool "SwisSQL" and "DbBest",
which say can full converting Oracle to SQL Server, includes Triggers and
Views?
I got this on KB already
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...r />
0761.mspx
but I still hope if there're some other choice and much more convenient...I heard of both the products, but I have seen DBBest in action at PASS 2003,
in Seattle, WA. Though I haven't tried it myself, it seems like a very good
product.
This might help:

Migrating data from DB2 to SQL Server

Hello,

I am trying to migrate data from a DB2 database to SQL Server 2005
database. Does anyone know about any migration tool that does that? I
have heard about DB2 Migration Tool kit, but I think you can only
migrate data to a DB2 database with that. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Yes, of course.
To you push data regularly or is this a once of.
If you have to do it often you could consider Websphere Information
Integegrator. It allows you to push/pull data through normal SQL from
and to DB2.

Cheers

There is migration information at

tools exist for Oracle, Access and Sybase but there does not seem to be a

Migrate SSRS 2005 Reports

Hi,

I need to move few folders from our DEV SSRS 2005 environment to another
server. Folders will be moved to new parent folders.
Is there any tool that I can use fot this purpose?
I used RSScripter from SQLdbatips.com. Although the tool works great but it
can't script multiple folder reports. I have to script one by one and it is
a big problem.

Thanks
AlexIt cannot? I have version 2.0.0.6 and I can select multiple folders.

Migrate from 2000 to 2005

Is there a tool available (or planned) to migrate SQL Server 2000 database to SQL Server 2005 ? I came across this (http://www.timespring.net/TS_TD_SQL05offer.htm?track=NL-464&ad=524331) but are there any other tools ?
Has Microsoft planned anything of its own for this ?http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=63FCE120-5E87-4AF1-B080-CA461AEAFAA2&displaylang=en

Looking for something like this ?? Moreover, SQL Server 2005 will contain a upgrade wizard AFAIK.|||Thanks for the response. Yes, I went through (and even tried) SQL Server Ugrade advisor. But not sure if Microsoft has plans to ship "Upgrade Wizard" kind of utility as shipped with SQL Server 2000. I couldn't find any reference to such utility being planned in their site.|||Quoting from the new version of the HOLY BOOK (BOL 2005)

Upgrading to SQL Server 2005 from a previous SQL Server version is supported by the SQL Server 2005 Setup program. You can also migrate databases from previous SQL Server versions to an instance of SQL Server 2005. Migration can be from one SQL Server instance to another on the same computer, or from a SQL Server instance on another server. Migration options include use of the Copy Database Wizard, Backup and restore functionality, use of the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services Import and Export Wizard, and bulk export/bulk import methods.|||More information on how to upgrade : http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/default.aspx.

Microsofts Sql web admin and sqldmo

Hello all,

has anyone had the opportunity to try the sql web admin tool? if so, i have one question.

How can i use this to connect to a remote sql/msde server?

in the server textbox on the login screen i try 'machine name'\'instance name', along with the sa username and password. This does not work however.

am i just entering the wrong value , or do i need to change the code of the .connect method to allow for remote connections?

TIA.

-C-By "does not work", do you mean you are getting an error?

I have been successful using Web Data Administrator to connect to a remote database. The remote database must have mixed authentication (SQL Server and Windows). and you must be using a valid login and password. I accessed the server using the IP address.

As an additional point, I was VPN authenticated on the remote network before connecting.

Microsoft! What about full Bidi (RightToLeft) support??

Such a wonderful & powerful tool but no support for true RightToLeft in the
designer and in the browser page level!
Microsoft! Please consider this for SQL Server 2005.
Thanks in advanced :)
AsafAsaf - can you provide examples of where this does not work for you? (if
you could mark them up with desired behaviors, since we may not be able to
read it :-)).

Microsoft SQL Server Health and History Tool

Anyone have any experience or comments using Microsoft SQL Server Health and
History Tool?
Hi,
The Microsoft SQL Server Health and History Tool (SQLH2) allows you to
collect information from instances of SQL Server, store this information,
and run reports against the data in order to determine how SQL Server is
being used.
http://www.microsoft..com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=eedd10d6-75f7-4763
-86de-d2347b8b5f89&DisplayLang=en
Run the SQLH2 collector to help us collect feature usage information on SQL
2005(and SQL 2000) deployments. Then when the reports come out you (and
your customers) can easily view the collections.
Please understand, this question appears to be consulting in nature.

Yes, i also have problems too.
And i think there is a problem with our collation settings. (Which is
Turkish_CI_AS).
Also reports are not working because of that i think. Hate this localization
problems.
I will try on English Locale server and see if it works..

ThanksYes, i also have problems too.
And i think there is a problem with our collation settings. (Which is
Turkish_CI_AS).
Also reports are not working because of that i think. Hate this localization
problems.
I will try on English Locale server and see if it works..
